Chorten Cleaning and Beautification Project
Our scouts noticed that the chorten, a sacred symbol of our faith and heritage, had become dusty and neglected. Inspired by the scouting spirit of service and our duty to preserve Bhutanese culture, we decided to clean and beautify it. We hope this project instills respect, responsibility, and community pride in young people.
We began with a discussion among the scout leaders and members to plan the work, assign roles, and set a date. We then approached sponsors, who generously provided detergents. On the day, scouts washed the chorten thoroughly, scrubbed away dust and stains, and tidied the surroundings, working together with teamwork and devotion.
Through this project, we learned that teamwork and good planning make even a big task manageable. Working with sponsors taught us the value of community support, while cleaning the chorten deepened our respect for our culture and heritage. Above all, we learned that small acts of service can inspire pride and responsibility in young people.
