AROUND SRI LANKA IN 12 DAYS
The Trinity College Scout Group celebrated 100 years of Scouting in 2014. As a prelude for the centenary celebration the scouts organized a bicycle ride along the coastal belt of the island which was initiated and concluded from their home town Kandy which is in the central highlands. Adding the essence of community service, the scouts got together with the Kandy Cancer Hospital and rode for the worthy cause of creating awareness on cancer as well as raise funds for the newly built cancer hospital in Kandy. Altogether 50 Scouts and Past Scouts of Trinity college took part throughout the journey and they were joined by Scouts and Girl Guides from other troops throughout the journey covering many districts and provinces of the country. The entire journey was more than 1700kms and the scouts carried the College flag as well as the scout flag symbolizing the significance of fellowship and brotherhood. This project was executed with blessings of the Sri Lanka Scout Association and is the only project of this nature to be organized by a single scout group in history.
