1st ASEAN ROVER MOOT Rover Scouts lend a helping hand

SIXTY-FOUR Rover Scouts of the first ASEAN Rover Moot in the Belait District conducted a charitable activity as part of the moot’s community service at Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam, Belait District branch recently.

Branch Manager of Pusat Ehsan Hamimah binti Haji Sapar and staff members of the centre welcomed the contingent.

The group was introduced to the aims and objective of the centre, which is to cater the needs of more than 53 special needs students.

Hamimah briefed the group about activities held at the centre, funds collection as well as ways to help develop and nurture skills and talents of the students.

The programme continued with a cleaning campaign of the surrounding area of the centre.

A member of the Rover Scout, Awangku Muhammad Bur Afiq Izzudin bin Pengiran Abdul Mujiib Yahya, said, the community work was an opportunity for the participants to engage in volunteering activities.

Meanwhile, Wawan Susetyo Nurrohman from Gerakan Pramuka Indonesia, said the community service represented an important part of Rover Scouts, who are trained to provide aid to the communities as part of a continuous effort to raise a caring society.

“While there are not much differences in the efforts going into helping the needy in both Brunei and Indonesia, I hope that we can all band together to provide our skills and expertise in providing aid”, he added.
