Clean the Enviroment on the Founder’s Day
22nd February 2016 falls on a Monday. That is why many Scouts in Indonesia commemorated the Baden-Powell’s Day or The Founder’s Day on Sunday, 21st February 21, 2016. They chose Sunday because most Scouts are students who have to attend school on Monday.
Incidentally 21st February 2016 is also the National Waste Care Day. The Scouts take advantage of the commemorated The Founder’s Day with action to clean the environment in a number of provinces in Indonesia.
In Riau Islands Province, Scouts clean the beach. In Buleleng (Bali Province) and Semarang (Central Java Province), and other places in Indonesia, they clean their town.
In South Tangerang (Banten Province), the Scouts did the same thing. There was a local jamboree held by KH Agus Salim Scout Group 05063-05064 South Tangerang District. The jamboree which was held at Witana Harja City Forest, from 19 to 21 February 2016, attended by around 600 Scouts from three provinces in Indonesia, Banten, DKI Jakarta, and West Java Province.
The Scouts do not require special janitor. They cleaned and picking up garbage. Then put it in the garbage cart to be taken to landfills specially designed for the garbage. Later, some organic waste will be processed into fertilizer.
