Waves of Change, Scouts Clean, Coastlines Heal”
This project was inspired by the urgent need to protect our oceans and coastal ecosystems, especially in the face of rising pollution and climate change. As Scouts, we believe in serving our communities and preserving the environment for future generations. The theme “Sustaining What Sustains Us” reminded us that our oceans give us life, food, and climate balance—and it’s our duty to take care of them.
The project was planned and executed in collaboration with local Scout leaders, volunteers, and environmental partners. Preparations included mobilizing participants, securing cleanup tools, and sourcing mangrove seedlings. On the event day, teams were divided into cleanup and planting groups. The cleanup focused on a 100m² beach area, where waste was sorted and recorded. Meanwhile, the planting team carefully placed 200 mangrove seedlings along the shoreline, guided by environmental experts.
1. Teamwork makes a big difference – With good coordination, even a short cleanup can have a huge impact.
2. Plastic is a major threat – The high amount of plastic waste showed how serious pollution has become in our oceans.
3. Nature needs ongoing care – Planting mangroves taught us that restoring the environment takes time and commitment.
4. Youth can lead change – Scouts showed leadership, energy, and passion in driving the project forward.
