Tide Turners: Action Against Plastic Pollution 🌊

We were inspired after a Plastic Waste training in Edo State, where we learned about the dangers of plastic pollution to our environment and oceans. After returning, we saw these same challenges in our community, which motivated us to take action through the Tide Turners Plastic Challenge by raising awareness and promoting proper waste management.
We shared the knowledge gained from the Plastic Waste training in Edo State with our troop and community. We conducted sensitization on the dangers of plastic pollution and the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). We also carried out clean-up exercises in our community, collecting and properly disposing plastic waste while encouraging people to adopt responsible waste practices..
Throughout this project, we learned the importance of proper waste management and the impact of plastic pollution on the environment, especially oceans and communities. We also gained practical knowledge on the 3Rs — Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle — and how small daily actions can reduce environmental harm. Most importantly, we learned the value of teamwork, awareness creation, and taking responsibility for protecting our environment.
