TTL Meghna Scouts Honor Language Martyrs on Feb 21
International Mother Language Day is an initiative driven by the Bangladeshi people in the last 1999 UNESCO General Conference and has been observed throughout the world since 2000. This promotes linguistic and cultural diversity of sustainable societies. This aims to preserve the differences in cultures and languages and further foster tolerance and respect for others.
It is generally celebrated every 21st of February annually. However, for the Bangladeshis, this day holds more weight. It serves as commemoration of the 1952 language movement and the martyrs who died for the recognition of the Bangla language.
In February 2025, TTL-Bangladesh Meghna Troop observed this day with utmost reverence. 12 Scouts participated in the said event. In the early hours of 21 February, 12 Scouts placed a wreath in a monument of the Shaheed Minar.
