A Very Special Walk

A Very Special Walk

I had found the experience extremely meaningful because it had let me develop on multiple levels and let me broaden my view of the society in Singapore. From the experience, I had learnt that Singapore is not just a perfect society, but also has many people from many different walks of life, with some people being more privileged than others in some ways. This was clear because we were raising funds for children with autism, who had mental disabilities. However, they are not very much different from us other than their disability, and are still nice people who have their own dreams and aspirations that we should not be discriminating against. This helped me develop empathy and also realise how privileged I am just to be born without any mental disabilities. On a more personal level, because I was in charge of manning the merchandise booth, the experience had taught me a lot more about confidence and how to sell a product effectively, whilst still getting the message across that the money would be used for a worthy cause. All in all, I had thoroughly enjoyed this experience, and it has really helped me grow as a person, and if given another opportunity, I would definitely go for it again!
