_UNDERSTANDING THE LIFE OF THE ELDERLY-

me and my friend sandesh kalinga went to the'yasa care center' in nugegoda on 14 th march 2020.we entered the building an the ownwer mrs Yasmin Johar introduced us to the elderly women in upstairs.first we met a retired teacher from museus college,she was talketive and very nice.since she couldn't make her bed on her own,we made the bed,sweeped and mopped the room for her. Then she asked me to cut her nails and I helped her with that too.then we went to mr and mrs jayanz's room.since we went the week earlier to the place too she remembered me.she and her husband has worked in the blind school for forty five years,both of them were above ninety years and they even had grandchildren!while we cleaned the room she told us insidents in her past,her husband is now blind and though she can't walk properly she still takes care of her husband.when we hugged her to leave the room she cried with happiness because she got to talk with us,that's when I realized how lonely they were in that apartment.

then we went to another room and swept and mopped it.the woman in that room couldn't sit by herself so sandesh helped her to sit and he fed her some grams for breakfast.though she couldn't talk properly she gave us a warm smile and thanked us. We cleaned the living room and cut thier nails.We went to the ground floor and cleaned the area.Then we thanked everyone for the opportunity and we said our goodbyes and went home,I learnt a lot of things that day.
