Trash Today, Treasure Tomorrow

We were inspired by the growing amount of waste, especially PET bottles, cans, tins, and cartons, generated in our school. We wanted to reduce waste pollution, promote recycling, and encourage students to take responsibility for keeping our school clean and green.

After the midterm examinations, students from PP to Class X collected waste for an hour every weekend, with some collecting after school on weekdays. We gathered PET bottles, cans, tins, rubber waste, and cartons from our school and the Autsho community, compressed and packed them, and sent them to scrap dealers for recycling. Parents also contributed by bringing waste to school. These efforts have kept our school and community clean, and we now hardly see such waste in the areas we cover.

Through this project, we learned that teamwork and consistent efforts can create a big impact. By involving students from PP to Class X in regular waste collection, we have helped keep Autsho community clean, and now we hardly see discarded cans, tins, cartons, and PET bottles in the areas we cover. We learned that protecting the environment is everyone’s responsibility.
