Relief Distribution for flood-affected in Comilla

Flooding is a common disaster in riverine Bangladesh, impacting thousands annually. People lose homes, farmland, and income sources, and face shortages of safe drinking water and food in shelters. Inspired to help, we, the scouts of Rajuk Uttara Model College Scout Group, decided to assist the flood-affected people of Cumilla in August 2024.

This project focused on collecting and distributing donations to flood-affected people in Burichong, Cumilla. Eight scouts, two Rover Scout members, and one adult leader worked tirelessly from August 25 to 31. After gathering funds, they purchased and packed approximately 200 relief packets. On August 31, they traveled to Burichong, where local residents and law enforcement assisted in distribution.

The lessons we learned from this project were immense. Witnessing the smiles and hope on the faces of the affected individuals truly touched our hearts. This project underscored the importance of teamwork and unity, demonstrating that it is possible to provide assistance and hope to marginalized communities in a short period of time.
