Project Orion VII

Project Orion VII

Through this project, I have learnt not only the importance of wildlife and self-awareness but also experience the different living environment that others are experiencing. It gave me a once in a lifetime opportunity to understand wildlife, the turtle species, better through many methods from analyzing their endangerment to turtle nest excavation to protect them from predators. At Kampung Mangkuk, the place where our project was carried out, I constructed fences, rebuilt porch as well as painting of stalls to boost the development of their village. Despite the hard labour from working, I managed to experience true happiness and appreciation from the villagers. I felt that it was worthwhile as back in Singapore, happiness to us means getting a new phone and enjoying luxurious food but it was different for them. This had changed me both physically and mentally as I have strengthened my skill of empathy and compassion towards being a person. In addition, I obtained new friends and forged deep bonds with them during this project. Regardless of this project being a tough yet fun one, it was fortunate to be able to pull through this challenge with them. It was a fruitful and memorable experience for me and I never regretted not going for it.
