PEACE KAYAKING DAY

The scout participants were divided into two groups. The first group consist of 15 participants were responsible to kayak tracing the river while picking up trashes along the river. The second group also consist of 15 participants were responsible to do some preparations for the opening ceremony and games at Pulau Sekati hall. During kayaking, the first group have picked some trashes such as water bottles, plastic bags, plastic foods trashes, drink and food cans that floating on the river. After finishing picking up the trashes, they headed directly to Pulau Sekati hall for the opening ceremony event. At the event hall, 30 scouts participants and 50 non-scouts participants from Pulau Sekati community have registered and made temperature check before entering the hall and keep one meter distancing from each other in the hall. Temperature check and one meter distancing was necessary in order to follow the standard operating procedure to keep everyone safe. During the opening ceremony, leader of Sea Scout G Kuala Terengganu, Encik Mohd Rosdi Bin Abd Razak, has made some greetings speech and introduction regarding the International Day of Peace. He also thanked Pulau Sekati community that willingly to participate in the program. The chairman of Pulau Sekati Village Community Management Council, Encik Nasir bin Saleh, also have made some speech which he and other community were grateful and thanked to Sea Scout G Kuala Terengganu, for choosing their village to held a program for International Day of Peace. It was an honor for them and welcomed the scouts in their community. Apart from that, representative from Terengganu Malaysian National Security Council, Encik Ahmad Yazid Bin Maliki, also gave some speech regarding the importance of following the standard operating procedure (SOP), prevent 3C (crowded places, confined spaces and close conversation) and always practice 3W (wash hand, wear face mask and warn). It is necessary to keep update with SOPs to stay safe during this pandemic covid-19 disease. As the highlight for the opening ceremony, Encik Nasir and Encik Yazid have released two white pigeons as the gimmick for the ceremony. After the opening ceremony, the scouts and the community have played several variety of games such as balloon popping relay, classic bowling using coconut, fill the water bottle using sponge relay, run in sacks relay, Lontaran Kasih and Gulung Kain. The scouts and the community were competing each other in these relay games. Gifts presentation were presented by Encik Nasir and Encik Yazid for the winners during the closing ceremony. The program went smoothly throughout the day from the beginning until the end.
