Mother Teresa Home

I joined a group at our school; called MAD it stands for “Making A difference”. Being part of MAD Youth means that I can make a difference in my community by serving in my community. Our vision is to make a difference in such a way that there will be everlasting change. Our motto is “Making tomorrow better”.

Once a week, on a Friday after school we visit Mother Teresa Home. It is a children’s home that is looking after abandoned children. The visits to Mother Theresa Children’s Home is also about developing relationships with the people there, we don't want them to feel abandoned, or we don't want them to think we're the people they're used to that just comes and goes in their lives.

My visits to Mother Teresa were for the children. To show the people that someone cares for them and also to give the nurses and staff a break for the one hour and a half. Later we also started painting the nails for the older women and their caretakers. Overall, this was one way that the MAD youth wanted to give back to the community by making some of the people at Mother Teresa happy. I loved going to the kids and see them run to us and happy that they have someone new to play with.

The Home does not allow us to take pictures of the children as they do not want to expose the kids people that might want to target the kids.
