Hands That Care, Hearts That Connect

Through this project, Cub Scouts and their families came together to show older adults that they are remembered, valued, and cared for. By collecting everyday essentials, our scouts turned kindness into practical service. Every donation is a small act of compassion that can bring comfort, dignity, and joy to someone's day. This project reminds our Cub Scouts that they are never too young to make a difference and that peace grows when we serve others with caring hearts.
During the weekend Cuboree, Cub Scouts, their families, and packs donated everyday items for older adults in nursing homes. Working in buddy pairs, the Scouts assembled about 100 care packages and added a personal note for each recipient. After learning about the Messengers of Peace program, they helped deliver the boxes to nursing homes across Puerto Rico.
We learned that small, practical donations can make a meaningful difference when a community works together. Giving Cub Scouts clear roles and having them work in buddy pairs helped them take ownership of the project, while the personal notes made each care package more thoughtful and personal. We also saw how service can teach compassion, teamwork, and the value of bringing comfort to others.
