The Giving Garden (Pack 49 Norwood)
Norwood Cub Scout Pack 49 has long been involved with the Ecumenical Community Food Pantry of Norwood, Inc. by collecting food in the annual "Scouting for Food" campaign which takes place each year in early November.
In 2015 we discovered an untended vegetable garden on the premises of the Grace Episcopal Church, the location of the pantry, we decided to bring our service project into a full circle and grow food to donate to the pantry. The Scouts, along with their leaders and families, cleaned and prepped the area, planted seeds and seedlings. They tend to the garden daily and have been harvesting lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, summer squash, zucchini, carrots, and much more. It's a great learning experience with hands on fun! Now in our 4th year we have added another group to the garden and it is thriving!
