Du déchet à la beauté
What convinced me to carry out this activity was the observation of the large amount of plastic waste in the city or village, causing environmental pollution and blocking drainage channels, leading to frequent flooding in low-lying areas. Yet, this waste can be transformed into useful tools to improve our environment
The activity took place in the commune of Ambohimanga Rova, in the fokontany of Ambohitrandriamanjaka, near National Road 3, close to Ambohitrandriamanjaka High School.
The objective was to create flower pots from recycled plastic bottles and then plant flowers in them.
Once the pots were completed, they were distributed to households in Ambohitrandriamanjaka. Each scout personally handed over their pot, combining competition with community service.
The main lesson learned is that change starts with oneself: from me to you, and then to the community. It is possible to initiate this change locally before it gradually spreads throughout society.
To improve the initiative, it would be important to involve more young people at the regional level and not limit the action to obtaining a certificate or a badge. Monitoring the impact of the activities should be put in place, as a single event is not enough to create lasting behavioral change.
