Introduction: Our community is the city, town or village where we live. Comunities can also be of common cultural heritage, language and beliefs or shared interests. Relationships whether with people or the land define a community for each individual. Development carries an assumption of growth, expansion and also a positive change. The community development process takes charge of the conditions and factors that influence a community and changes the quality of life of its members. Community development is a process where community menbers com together to take collective action and generate solutions to common problems. "Community well being (economic, social, envoronmental and cultural) often evolves from this type of collectice action beign taken at the grassroot level." Community development seeks to improve quality of life. Effective community development results in mutual benifit and shared responsibility among community members. The sustained community development undertaken as per APRO part III are: i) Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other diseases. ii) Ensure environmental sustainability. Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other diseases: Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other diseases directly and indirectly impact food and nutrition, security, rural development and agricultural productivity. WHO has recommended the following strategies to combat theses epidemic diseases. * To spread awareness to prevent HIV/AIDS, Malaria, etc. * To ensure early detection/diagnosis and treatment if diseases. * To engage all care providers and locals. * Prevention with long lasting insecticidal nets and indoor/outdoor residual spraying. * Preventing therapies for infant, children and pregnant women. The following strategies were undertaken by me as per APRO Part III(Guide wing): 1) Taking information from local healthcare units. 2) Collecting pamphlets about preventing epedemic diseases like Malaria, Plague, Dengue, etc. 3) Creating awareness by distributing handouts in the neighborhood. 4) Cleaning up the local area. 5) Creating awareness to local children. 6) Creating awareness at school.
