Building a Dry Stone Wall
The idea for the Dry Stone Wall Project was inspired by our desire to reconnect with the natural and cultural heritage of the Karst region, where the 2025 National Scout Jamboree took place. Many of us were struck by how these simple, centuries-old walls protect the soil, prevent erosion, and tell the story of local communities living in harmony with nature.
The project was carried out during the Zlet 2025 National Jamboree in Sežana, Slovenia. Together with local experts and craftsmen, around 50 scouts took part in a two-day practical workshop on traditional dry stone wall construction.
Through the Dry Stone Wall Project, we learned that preserving the environment starts with understanding it. Building the wall required patience, teamwork, and attention to detail — every stone had to fit perfectly, just like every person in a good team.
