Helping others and building a strong community creates positive karma. One day, when we need support, the same community we helped will be there for us. Acts of kindness strengthen bonds, foster compassion, and ensure no one is left behind. The goodness we share always finds its way back.
Menlom Chhenmo is an event where spiritual leaders initiate prayers for the peace of all sentient beings. During this sacred gathering, a highly respected lama, similar to a head priest in a church, leads the prayers for everyone's well-being. As part of this event, we helped prepare meals by assisting the cooks, chopping vegetables, and distributing food to the people gathered. To support the occasion, we formed a group and volunteered our time to serve the community. Through these efforts, we not only provided nourishment but also strengthened our sense of unity, compassion, and the spirit of selfless service.
Around 5,000 to 5,500 people attend this event, and to support them, we prepare and serve meals so they don’t have to bring their own food. We helped in preparing meals by supporting the kitchen staff, assisting with chopping vegetables, cooking, and distributing food to the gathered devotees. Through this collective effort, we not only provided nourishment but also strengthened unity, compassion, and the spirit of selfless service.
A strong community fosters peace within individuals and the nation as a whole. In Bhutan, spirituality plays a vital role in daily life, guiding people toward kindness, compassion, and unity. Prayers are not just rituals but a way to seek blessings for the well-being of others and to cultivate inner strength. By practicing spiritual values, individuals develop self-discipline and a sense of responsibility, which helps in personal growth and leadership.
