Gerakan Pramuka Starts Nationwide DfP Project
Jakarta, Indonesia – From March 7 to 10, 2025, Gerakan Pramuka Indonesia hosted the National Dialogue for Peace Training, a significant event aimed at fostering unity and understanding among diverse communities. Supported by the Temasek Foundation, the World Organization of the Scout Movement, and KAICIID, the training brought together 37 participants from 12 provinces across Indonesia.
The opening ceremony was graced by the top leaders of Gerakan Pramuka, including the Chief Commissioner, International Commissioner, and the Secretary General. Their presence underscored the importance of the initiative in promoting peace and dialogue.
Throughout the training, participants engaged in various activities designed to enhance their skills in conflict resolution and interfaith dialogue. A highlight of the event was the field visits to prominent religious sites, where participants were warmly received by religious leaders. They visited Istiqlal Mosque and Immanuel Church, as well as Buddhist and Hindu temples, experiencing firsthand the rich tapestry of Indonesia's religious diversity.
This training marks a pivotal step in Gerakan Pramuka's ongoing efforts to build a more harmonious society. By equipping young leaders with the tools to navigate and mediate conflicts, the organization hopes to contribute to a future where peace and mutual respect prevail.
Furthermore, Gerakan Pramuka has been committed to fostering a culture of peace through dialogue programs across the country. With multistakeholders' partnership, including with other youth religious organizations, as highlighted during the National Training by the involvement of representatives from key leadership of the Indonesian Ulema Council, the Catholic Youth, and the Hindu Youth Organizations.
Henceforth, from this partnership, Gerakan Pramuka is incorporating the dialogue for peace and peacebuilding skills into the educational scheme and launched 40 Dialogue for Peace projects across the country which will be organized by the trained participants equipped with necessary conceptual and practical skill sets to directly contribute to the society.
