Eating Manners (Table Etiquette) Eating manners are the polite ways of behaving while eating meals. They show respect for food, for the people who prepared it, and for those sharing the meal with us.

Some important eating manners are:

  • Wash your hands before and after eating.
  • Sit properly while eating.
  • Do not talk with food in your mouth.
  • Chew food slowly and quietly.
  • Use a spoon, fork, or chopsticks properly (if available).
  • Do not waste food; take only as much as you can finish.
  • Say “thank you” after finishing your meal.

Practicing good eating manners makes meals pleasant and shows respect for others.
