Dialogue in Practice - Scouts in Africa perfect the skill

Today was a very practical day in the Dialogue for Peace training that aimed to measure and upscale the skills the participants have in delivering and facilitation of dialogue sessions. The activities not only brought the participants together but encouraged them to look past their differences and focus on their shared values. “We were all humans until race disconnected us, religion separated us, politics divided us and wealth classified us’’ Said Charity while delivering her session. We may not be able to love the same things but sometimes to find common ground we just might realize that we all hate the same things, like pride, war, violence, gender inequity, racism etc. and from our realization that is where we build bridges from. That is exactly where we start our conversations, that is where we gain the common ground and initiate the much needed conversations and finally achieve constructive dialogue. The participants through the different exercises and discussions the entire day were treated to the different scenarios that they could come across and how to use the skills they have gotten to be able to promote a culture of non- violence and dialogue in their Countries, National Scout Organizations and local communities
