Youth for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

UNICEF and The Scout Association of Mongolia are successfully implementing the WASH project under the theme “Children and Youth Together for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene”. During these difficult times of COVID – 19, clean water, basic toilets and good hygiene and sanitation practices are essential for human health. In this project, Messengers of Peace members and  the Rover Board and were divided into teams such as organizers, office team, content, and soap producers. Within the framework of the project, a total of 20 schools in 10 provinces provided training to 579 students aged 11-18 on the main topics of water, sanitation and hygiene and travelled 15.000 km around Mongolia. The training was followed by a field trip to validate students' knowledge and provide them with a broader range of knowledge. Featuring a total of six stations, including waste, air pollution, water, sanitation, sanitation, and soap stations, the event allowed students to test their knowledge and skills, and most importantly, to learn how to make eco friendly, low-cost soaps. In addition to providing soap to their schools through the Washy Warriors Club, which will be established in each school as part of the project, the students will be taught about the importance of using soap when washing their hands.

To raise awareness 5 videos related to sanitation, hygiene, water and making low cost hand soap tutorial videos were developed with sign language.

Trainings and meetings are being held online for all students involved in the project due to the pandemic situation, and the “Washy Warrior Mongolia” Facebook page provides information and advice in the form of videos and posts. For example, the project's content team provided students with videos on how to participate in online meetings, instructions on how to use the ZOOM application, tips and the importance of hand washing, how to make soap, hygiene tips and information for students. In honor of World Handwashing Day,  “Wishy Washy” a video recording challenge was announced under the motto “Let's wash our hands with soap”. More than 20 works were submitted to the challenge and it reached more than 270,000 people.
