Trash Today, Treasure Tomorrow
We were inspired by the growing amount of waste, especially PET bottles, cans, tins, and cartons, generated in our school. We wanted to reduce waste pollution, promote recycling, and encourage students to take responsibility for keeping our school clean and green.
After the midterm examinations, students from PP to Class X (excluded pp-III in no. of participants) collected PET bottles, cans, tins, rubber waste, and cartons from our school and the Autsho community for over two months, with support from parents. During the six recorded days (three Saturdays and Sundays, four hours each) in the project duration, students ONLY brought the previously collected waste to school, sorted, compressed, and packed it for delivery to scrap dealers for recycling.
Through this project, we learned that teamwork and consistent efforts can create a big impact. By involving students from PP to Class X in regular waste collection, we have helped keep Autsho community clean, and now we hardly see discarded cans, tins, cartons, and PET bottles in the areas we cover. We learned that protecting the environment is everyone’s responsibility.
