Towards Clean Water & Filtration
We were inspired by seeing our local village struggle every morning without access to clean, fresh water. We wanted to provide immediate, practical solutions rather than just talk about the problem. Carrying posters and a handmade charcoal filter, our scout team set out to show families that safe water is achievable at home through simple, accessible methods like boiling and DIY filtration.
We executed this project by gathering early in our local village, carrying educational posters and a homemade charcoal filter we built as a team. We met with residents face-to-face, demonstrating practical purification methods like boiling and filtration. By physically showcasing how the charcoal filter works, we turned abstract clean water concepts into an accessible, hands-on morning workshop.
Demonstrating water filtration in the morning village heat taught us that seeing is believing. Handing out posters about boiling was helpful, but physically pouring dirty water through our handmade charcoal filter and watching it come out clear is what truly built trust. We realized that in areas lacking fresh water, practical, low-cost survival skills matter far more to families than abstract science lessons.
