Toowoomba Peace Gathering

Gathering in St Lukes Church to remember victims of voilence throughout the world. Scouts were invited to attend at the request of Toowoobma city’s Iraqi community, devastated again by recent events in Iraq which also incresae some in fear locally, St Luke’s Anglican Church in Toowoomba will host a gathering for peace in Iraq and the wider world. The aim is to share our common Christian/Muslim/all faith/no faith community/human revulsion at the violence of our world and to strengthen our commitment to making Toowoomba ‘a model city of peace and harmony’. The gathering will include: an opportunity to lay flowers or light candles for those who have died in the horrendous acts of violence in recent weeks; two short illustrated talks from members of the Iraqi community about Iraq; selected short readings and prayers; refreshments and an opportunity to share together. Everyone is very, very welcome – irrespective of belief or no belief, culture or anything else. Let’s stand together to end hatred in our world and fear and suspicion in our community!
