Shelter assistance after the severe earthquake in Hualien, Taiwan
There was a severe earthquake damaged Hualien city in Taiwan at 6 Feb. night. Many buildings and a famous hotel were collapsed. People who had lost their house and those who had been scared by the earthquake were arranged to live in two main shelters. A lot of resources including foods, drinks, mobile combined bed frames and clothes were sent to the shelter within few hours. Many volunteers also went to shelters to assist the different affairs.
Some rover scouts and scoutmasters in Taiwan contacted with the officers in Hualien county government to ask if there is anything we can do. We started the assistance from 8 Feb. to be the night guards as well as to provide necessary helping to whom may need.
Since there were many children in the shelter and they were in winter vacation. Hualien county government officer asked us to accompany them. We played with them, told them stories and comforted them to forget the earthquake. Hope their life can back to normal soon.
