REAL ACTION FOR TURTLE PRESERVATION

It is the obligation of every MoP coordinator to commemorate World Turtle Day every year. Our area, Paloh subdistrict, Sambas district, has a sandy coastline which is a turtle habitat and has been designated as a national turtle conservation center. Therefore, we as MoP coordinators must be responsible for maintaining its sustainability. Turtle conservation activities, such as: releasing hatchlings, beach cleaning campaigns, education and scientific research on turtles.
Five MoP Sambas West Kalimantan coordinators collaborated to raise funds and invited community organizations to commemorate World Turtle Day, in the context of a campaign to conserve turtles and keep their habitat clean from trash pollution. We invite them to take real action in breeding and releasing turtles on the beach and combing the beach to pick up plastic waste. They are very interested and satisfied with the Turtle Day 2024 activities.
Valuable lessons from commemorating turtle day 2024: 1. increase awareness of the importance of protecting habitat biota. Turtles, as an endangered species, have become symbols of various larger environmental issues such as pollution, climate change and habitat loss. Teaches us about the importance of protecting biodiversity and maintaining ecosystem balance. Knowledge gained from scientific research is used to create better policies and more effective conservation practices.
