Project LIGTAS
We were inspired to start Project LIGTAS after witnessing how disasters like typhoons and floods affect our community. We realized that the youth can play a big role in promoting safety and preparedness, so we organized this project to train young volunteers and build resilience. With support from our partners, we aim to create a community that is ready, united, and disaster-resilient.
We executed Project LIGTAS through a youth-led training and community development activity. With support from the BSP National Office and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), we conducted a first aid and disaster response training for youth volunteers, scouts, and SK officials. We also cleared and developed the YDDRT Command Office and improved the Sangguniang Kabataan Office to serve as centers for coordination and preparedness.
We learned that teamwork, preparedness, and youth involvement are key to building a resilient community. The project taught us the value of planning, coordination, and cooperation among youth, barangay officials, and partners. Most importantly, we realized that even small actions can create a big impact when done with unity and purpose.
