Being the 4th year running, the Petaling District of the Malaysian Scouts Association (PPM) has pulled off yet another spectacular expedition for the Senior Scouts aspiring to be attain their King Scouts badge. With more than 20 leaders lending a helping hand to ensure the safety and well-being of the 80 plus Senior Scouts coming from differing schools in the district, it was never an easy task for both the organizing team and the leaders who were on duty to keep everyone safe from harm in every way. Through this expedition, the Senior Scouts were not only tested in terms of physical and mental capabilities but also putting their Scouting knowledge and experience through the badge progression and advancement scheme to practice use such as estimating the height of the tower of the Blue Mosque in Shah Alam, identifying plants in the Botanical Gardens in Shah Alam, basic weather prediction and cloud reading to name a few. The patrol system was well practiced by the Senior Scouts throughout the duration of the expedition. As practiced in the previous year and the years before, the Scout Leaders and the Organizing team empowered the patrols to make elect a new leaders in their respective patrol in order for each participant to build their leadership skills. By doing this, it we as Leaders are empowering the youths to make decisions and invoke trust building among the patrol despite coming from different schools, religious background, cultural back ground and more importantly the Scouting brotherhood and sisterhood. As far a well-being is concerned, it was a significant improvement from the other expeditions organized in the previous year where by there were less cases of of Scouts pulling out half way due to injuries or falling ill. Having said that, this shows that the Senior Scouts this year are well prepared for the task at hand. As a part of giving back to the society, the Senior Scouts were given a task to help keep the environment clean by performing a community service by cleaning park lake surrounding the Shah Alam Museum and the park next to the Ramsay-Sime Darby Medical Centre in Subang Jaya.
