Plant for the Planet (Tree Plantation)
We observed that environmental pollution, global warming, and climate change are becoming increasingly severe threats to nature, biodiversity, and human life. As part of our commitment to the environment through Scouting values and in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we, the Rover Scouts, initiated a tree plantation project to promote greenery and protect the environment in our community.
With the support of local community members, 15 Rover Scouts and Scouts identified suitable areas such as riverbanks, open fields, and roadsides for planting. We collected saplings of different species from local nurseries. The soil was prepared properly, and trees were planted at appropriate distances. Each Rover & Scout planted at least 5 trees and took personal responsibility for their regular care and maintenance.
Through this project, we realized the deeper importance of trees in preserving the environment. We developed leadership, teamwork, and a strong sense of responsibility. Working alongside local people enhanced our understanding of community involvement—a core element of the Scout method. Most importantly, we recognized our own role in protecting nature and the planet.
