Peace and Kindness Rocks

Peace and Kindness Rocks

In the wake of the Terror Attacks on the Muslim community in Christchurch New Zealand where 50 people died and a further 50 people have been injured some critaclly, I discussed with out Kea group how we could show our love and support to the Muslim community in our town of Oamaru.  We decided we would paint some "Peace and Kindness Rocks" to give to the Muslim Families in our community.  We chose this activity because over the last 2 years our community has embraced the global movement of Rock Painting.  Its aim is to bring families and neighbourhoods closer together by creating a safe and fun activity that people of all ages and abilities can participate in. Rock painting sparks our imagination and fosters creativity. It gets us outdoors and interacting with our community.  I feel that this aim fits well with our Scouting Values and is a great way for our Keas to connect with all area's of their community.
