Our Garden!

A lot of the Scouts where interested in growing things & as we live in a low socioeconomic area food is sometimes limited. We started experimenting with smaller growing activities such as sprouts in a jar (reusing items to achieve this). Also learning how to harvest seeds from our food. Our plan is to eventually have a fully self supporting garden.
We had a spare corner of the land our den is on so we decided to make it into a garden. We visited a local community garden to get inspiration and approached local businesses for donations.
We have had a couple of Scout start their own gardens at home as well as been able to introduce Scouts to foods they had not tried before.
The scouts have really enjoyed gardening, watering the plants, the excitement of watching food grow and the experience of trying new foods.
