"Monarchs For Peace" is a unique international service project which engages youth and adults from Scouts Canada, the Boy Scouts of America, and Scouts de Mexico in a common effort to preserve and sustain the North American migratory populations of the Monarch Butterfly. Monarch populations have diminished substantially over the past few decades and our goal is to reverse this trend. Our methods are to increase awareness, educate youth and adults, and restore lost habitat for the Monarch by planting native milkweed species throughout the migratory flight path traversing Mexico, the USA, and Canada. During this 5 year project, our efforts will also build connections and bonds among Scouts and Scouting units within our 3 countries while generating a sense of common purpose leading up to the 24th World Jamboree to be hosted by all three NSOs in 2019.
