With our Scout Group Leaders and all Scouts from Joeys, Cubs and Scouts, we decided to participate in an annual community event where we put together special care packages for children somewhere in the world who have never received a Christmas or Birthday present. Scouts were given a month to donate items over an age range for both girls and boys from 7 different categories including something for school, something to play with and something for personal hygiene. One of our Leader's even made special mini snuggle blankets and added the Messengers of Peace badge onto it as well as a few badges about our group and where we are from. The response of donations from our Scouts was overwhelming that we were able to donate more boxes than we originally planned for. The final item that was to go into the boxes was a personal message from each section or an individual message about who we are, a photo of us and a message of peace to whom the recipient would be. Our Group enjoyed participating in this event so much that we are looking at making it an annual Group event.
