Manage your Waste: It's time to pay back Nature
The existing disposal area in the college was proving to be too small and too old, with no segregation prospects, making waste management one of the most compelling issues. Therefore, we found the need to make a proper disposal site for waste and advocate people about managing own waste.
The rovers of the College of Natural Resources collaborated with three other clubs to carry out the project. Various activities were conducted under the project such as, multiple cleaning campaigns, installation of signboards, packing and selling of pet bottles, poster competition, and construction of proper segregation site for both degradable and non-degradable waste. A total of 136 participants dedicated 82 hours of their service for the project.
After the completion of project, our objective for segregation of waste at point has been achieved. Through our multiple awareness techniques, the number of waste lying around has drastically reduced. We have together reminded people to be responsible of their own waste. A waste which is the cause of all the underlying issues related to health, environment degradation and all contributing to climate change. We have tackled the global issue of waste in our own community.
There is nothing we cannot do if we all came together and work towards it. Do not wait for some one to start, take a step forward and lead the work. This project enlightened me on waste related issues and proper management. Indeed it has instilled in the mind of everyone to be responsible of our own actions. Work collaboratively and smartly and you will leave no stoned unturned. Hence, I would involve more people as more heads brings in more ideas.
