Madiba Week
In celebration of the Nelson Mandela centenary, Scouts from the Nkomazi District in the Mpumalanga Region, South Africa took part in the Madiba Week celebrations. I , Siphila Dlamini had the honor to plan and execute the Madiba Week celebrations. Where did it all start?
Wakanda Lilongwe! I participated in the International Leadership Training course which took place in Malawi in May 2018. As part of the training, facilitators challenged us to go back home and plan and execute a project in our communities to demonstrate the project planning skills we learned at the ILT Training. I decided to use the Madiba centenary week (who is also the patron of SCOUTS South Africa) to execute my project. So we started with 67 minutes volunteering at a farm in exchange for their produce which we then donated to a kindergarten centre in the community of Skhwahlane. We spent the rest of the week visiting scout groups in the district while rolling the week over with a soccer tournament on Saturday the 21st of July 2018.
