KAGUM UNIT BERUNIFORM 2019
The Karnival Gerak Gerja Kokurikulum (KAGUM) Unit Beruniform 2019 was successfully carried out from 13 June 2019 to 16 June 2019. It was held at Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Sultan Mizan, Terengganu. The KAGUM was joined by 274 teachers trainees from 27 Teacher Training Institutes in all over Malaysia. There were total 6 units joined which were Scouts, Pandu Puteri, Kadet Remaja Sekolah, SISPA, Bulan Sabit Merah Malaysia and Puteri Islam. For Scouts, there were 42 participants.
I had arrived at the campsite on 13 June 2019 (Thursday) at around 4pm. After registering, we started to set up the camps and make all the gadjets that needed to be used for the 4 days camping.
On the second day, it was a day with making gadjets.
The third day which was full of activities was tiring yet enjoyable and fun. In the morning, there were three competitions launched at the same time, which were Orientaring, Traditional Games and Creating using recycling items. I joined the Creating using recycling items competition with another 2 scout friends. We collected some unused items such as straws, plastic bottles and rope around the campsite one day before as our materials to create something. After brainstroming, we had decided to make a set of jug and glass out of the plastic bottles. Eventhough we did not win the competition in the end, but this competition reminds me of taking care of the environment. I am one of the tenant of this earth, and I am responsible to protect this earth from destroying. We should all practise the 4R in ourselves.
In the afternoon, there was another competition held which was the marching competition. It was my first time to join a marching competition and I was really anxious in joining it. But it is lucky that I have friends around me who motivated me. We stay up late for training together, joked together and went through it together! It was really great and a new experience to me. It taught me to be determined and never give up no matter how hard the situation was.
While in the night, we had another competition which was The Cultural Night. It was a fun night. We cooperate and made a grand show. In the end, we were able to achieve the first prize in this competition!
For the forth day, it was about time to end this camping. In the morning, we went for a community service in a village in Besut to help the poor by painting his house and cook for the villages. It was meaningful yet I learned a lot of things there. It was the first time for me to cook with the white part of watermelon where I used to throw it away. While communicating with the villagers, I can feel their sincerity in welcoming us. It was a heartwarming morning.
After coming back from the village, it was time us to pack our things and went for the closing ceremony of KAGUM UB 2019.
The four days was short but it gave me a lot.
Knowing friends from all aroud Malaysia (especially the Sabahans!).
Learning new skills, for example making braids from coconut leaves, cook with rare materials.

Moreover, it made me to love scouting more and more!
