Joey Scouts send Letters of Peace to Deployed Servicemen

It total we have 13 Joey Scouts, and It was a bit of a challenge for an idea that they can all take place in and conduct some kind of Service so that they can receive there MOP Badge. One of our Leaders is a Returned Serviceman and came up with a great idea. He told us that during his time overseas that they would get random letters of support from members of the public from back home that they could read and reply to if they wanted to. We thought of this as a great start. We wrote up a template explaining what the letter was all about and the joeys wrote there names on them and drew pictures. Each one was placed in an envelope and included the good old Allen's Red Frog Lollies and was sent to various member of the Australian Defence Force currently deployed on Peace Keeping Missions around the world. Each letter had a return email address for our Group so we are hoping to hear from some members in the near future. The Joeys Loved it and since then the letter format has been used at various Joey Scout Groups around our District. Our Young Members are spreading the word of Peace both here and overseas and are totally thrilled by it.
