Helping Hands: Leo & Scouts Nikhshiya Mitra Drive
The inspiration for this project came from our commitment to support the Nikshiya Mitra Scheme, a government initiative aiding TB patients through nutritional and emotional support. Witnessing their struggles motivated the Leo and Scouts members to launch the Helping Hands – Sairam Nikhshiya Mitra Initiative, promoting compassion, community care, and collective responsibility toward a healthier, supportive society.
The project was executed by the Scouts members of Sri Sairam Engineering College in collaboration with the Government Hospital of Medavakkam, Chennai, under the Nikshiya Mitra Scheme. The team identified TB patients, prepared and distributed nutritious kits, and extended moral support, showcasing the Scouts’ dedication to service, compassion, and community welfare.
Through this project, the Scouts members learned the true essence of service and empathy by directly engaging with TB patients under the Nikshiya Mitra Scheme. It enhanced their understanding of community health challenges and the importance of teamwork, coordination, and social responsibility. The initiative also strengthened their leadership, communication, and organizational skills while fostering compassion and a lifelong commitment to serving humanity.
