Hands that Serve, Hearts that Grow
I was drawn to the idea of serving without expecting anything in return, which is a core principle in many spiritual traditions. It reminded me that simple acts of kindness, presence, and support can be powerful tools for both personal transformation and collective upliftment.
We began by transporting the cement bags and pole stands from the Lhakhang to the designated area where the holes were to be dug. Working in pairs, we proceeded to dig a total of 108 holes. Once the digging was complete, with the support of our escorts, some monks and other Lhakhang residents, we carefully positioned the pole stands into each hole. These were secured using cement around them.
Through this project, I learned the importance of teamwork, proper planning, and communication. The physical work taught me patience and perseverance.Working in pairs and collaborating with monks and Lhakhang residents emphasized how important teamwork and coordination are to complete physically demanding tasks efficiently. This task mainly deepened my appreciation for the hard work that goes into construction and infrastructure projects, often taken for granted.
