Getting Ahead Foundation Garden Boxes

My formative years in childhood were marked by the Great Recession. Especially in those years, I remember how difficult it often was for my parents to be able to put food on our table every night. As such, those feelings have stuck with me throughout my life, and food insecurity remains an issue that is important to me.

I designed and constructed 4 raised garden boxes for a local organization that helps low income and food insecure individuals. There was a lot of planning that went into the project, as I had to mediate between 4 different involved organizations. After my project proposal was approved after much consultation, the actual construction process was much simpler!

I learned that I am indeed capable of seeing a long term, complicated project to the end like this one.
