Early Detection Saves Lives – Free Mammogram Camp

This project was inspired by the need to raise awareness about breast cancer and promote early detection among rural women. Many are unaware of its symptoms and the importance of regular screening. By organizing a free mammogram camp, we aim to provide accessible healthcare, empower women, and save lives through timely diagnosis and treatment.

We executed the project through collaboration with the Rotary Club of Madras Mid-Town and local organizations. A free mammogram camp was organized at the Community Hall, Poonthandalam Village. Experienced doctors provided screening, consultations, and awareness sessions. Volunteers from Sairam Institutions and Scouts for SDGs coordinated logistics, registrations, and community mobilization to ensure maximum participation and outreach.

This project taught us the value of community participation and preventive healthcare awareness. We learned how teamwork and collaboration with medical professionals and local bodies can make a real difference. It improved our communication, planning, and leadership skills while helping us understand women’s health challenges and the importance of early detection through regular medical checkups.
