Cyber-wellness Ambassador, Spread the Message
The school’s cyber-wellness curriculum aims to promote the positive well-being of internet users. During Cyber-wellness week (21-24 May), the aim is to promote the practice of staying safe online. St Andrew’s ‘STAR’ Cub Scout Unit decided to work with the school’s ICT department on their Cyber-wellness Outreach project. Cub Scouts were scheduled to be ambassadors during recess to spread cyber-wellness messages to the school together with student members from the ICT department.
Cub Scouts attended a cyber-wellness session conducted by the teacher. During the session, they learnt more about the practice of staying safe online and also got to internalise the 3 cyber-wellness principles (Respect for Self & Others; Safe & Responsible Use and Positive Peer Influence).
Thereafter, our Cub Scouts worked in groups to create presentation boards with the information they learnt. In their groups, they also discussed the practice of staying safe online and decided on how they would engage their schoolmates to disseminate the tips they learnt about cyber-wellness.
During Cyber-wellness week, our Cub Scouts walked around the school canteen during their allocated recess time with the presentation boards they created to spread cyber-wellness messages and tips to their school mates.
Through this project, our Cub Scouts learned more about the practice of safe online use. They also had the opportunity to be a messenger of this message as they engaged their schoolmates effectively during Cyber-wellness week. In the preparation process, they learned to work collaboratively with fellow Cubs scouts and how to communicate effectively.
