Collecting Donations for RSPCA
For me to earn my Messengers of Peace badge I decided that I would like to help animals needing homes as I am passionate about helping animals. I have already given a rescue kitten a home that I adopted from RSPCA but I knew I could do more so I wanted to make a difference to RSPCA buy collecting food donations from my cub scout pack, school, friends and family.
Firstly, I prepared a speech explaining what I intended to do. I gave this speech to my cub scout pack and to 3 classes at school. My mum recorded my speech as well and we uploaded to her facebook page for friends and family.
Secondly, I took a box into the scout hall and my classroom so people could put in their donations. Family and friends gave them to my mum.
Once all donations had been received by 30th August 2018. My family and I took all the donations and dropped them off to RSPCA Lonsdale. They were very pleased and very thankful for all the generosity of people. They were thankful to me for thinking of them for this project.
I have learnt that even doing a small good turn can make a difference because the RSCPA said they currently had lots of dogs waiting for new homes and the food I donated will help to feed them. I also learnt that doing good deeds is very nice to others and makes me feel good that I can help some people.
I feel that doing this project has built my confidence because I had to stand up in front of lots of people and talk.
