Christmas Cheer
The Tamworth Oxley Cub Pack undertook a number of initiatives to spread goodwill and peace through the wider Tamworth community. The main way was through a visit to the Tamworth Cottage homes in December.
At this visit the cubs spent time singing Christmas carols and chatting to the residents. It was wonderful to see how much their faces lit up by having the youth spend time with them.
In preparation for the visit the cubs crafted some gifts to give to the residents. Under the guidance of our Group leader and Leaders they hand crafted packets of gift cards. They had to work together as a team, learning new skills at the same time.
The residents were thrilled with the effort that had gone into making these gifts, as well as the useful and practical nature.
The visit was such a success that they have asked us to return again next year, or earlier!
Some of the cubs also cleaned out their cupboards and toy boxes for clothes and toys they no longer needed and donated these to the Salvation Army.
The spirit of giving and sharing the message of peace and goodwill was very evident in our cub pack.
