Bottletops for wheelchairs

I started this recycling project after returning from the 23WSJ in 2015, where I saw how proactive the recycling programmes were. I asked the public to help collect plastic bottle tops which I took to a recycler. The recycler set targets to meet and in turn agreed to provide wheelchairs to people in need. For every 150kg of bottle tops I take to the recycler they will give me 1 wheelchair to donate to a child who needs one. 1kg is 400 tops so I needed 60 000 bottle tops per wheelchair. I handed in over 2000kg of bottle tops in 8 months, and on 1 September 2016, 8 children received new wheelchairs from this project. I am now starting a new bottle top project to raise funds for Operation Smile. Operation Smile helps fund surgeries for children born with cleft palate.
