150KM walk to promote 'Three Zeros' idea
Three Rover Scouts from the Crystal Open Scouts Group—Md Asraful Hoque, Tasnimul Hossain, and Md. Mehedi Hasan—embarked on a 150-kilometer walk from November 16 to 20 to promote Nobel Laureate and Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, Dr. Muhammad Yunus's visionary concept of a 'Three Zeros World.' This initiative also aligns with their pursuit of the President’s Rover Scout Award. Dr. Yunus's concept of Zero Poverty, Zero Unemployment, and Zero Net Carbon Emissions aims to create a sustainable and prosperous future.
Tasnimul Hossain, a second-year Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) student at Southeast University, Md. Mehedi Hasan, a first-year Textile Engineering student at the same university, and Md. Asraful Hoque, a graduate in Civil Engineering Diploma, are all active members of the Crystal Open Scouts Group under the Bangladesh Scouts Dhaka District Rover.
The journey began at Chittagong College and passed through Patiya, Gachhbaria, Amidabad, Lohagara, Harbang, Chakaria, Eidgah, and Ramu, ending in Cox’s Bazar. Throughout the walk, the three Rover Scouts engaged with communities to raise awareness about Dr. Yunus’s vision of a 'Three Zeros World,' emphasizing the importance of eradicating poverty, reducing unemployment, and achieving net-zero carbon emissions. The initiative also served as a platform to enhance leadership skills, foster social awareness, and inspire a commitment to environmental and humanitarian causes.
Md. Asraful Hoque remarked, “Through this journey, we were able to educate people about the significance and benefits of the 'Three Zeros World.' We firmly believe that embracing this concept can significantly reduce poverty, unemployment, and carbon emissions in our society.”
This initiative aims to spread the message of Dr. Yunus’s visionary concept across Bangladesh and the world, inspiring people to work together towards building a poverty-free, employment-rich, and environmentally sustainable planet. We are optimistic that the 'Three Zeros World' will gain global recognition and lead to a more prosperous and sustainable future.
Additionally, this 150-kilometer journey will ease the path to achieving the President’s Rover Scout Award, which will be presented by the Chief Scout, His Excellency, the President of Bangladesh, as part of the award's formal process.
