Creating Smart Scout

If you’re a Scout in the big cities and its surrounding areas, maybe you’re not familiar with riding horse, archery, and some others unusual activities. That is why the KH Agus Salim Scout Group 05063-05064 South Tangerang District, Banten Province of Indonesia held a jamboree with those activities. The “Agus Salim Jamboree” was held at Witana Harja City Forest, from 19 to 21 February 2016. As the district is very near from Jakarta, the capital city of the Republic of Indonesia and one of the biggest metropolitan city in the world, Scouts from South Tangerang are very familiar with the lifestyle of the metropolitan city. Riding horse, archery, diving, are some activities which mostly of them did not know. The organizing committee then chose to give the jamboree participants some new experiences with those activities. Not only that, but they also introduced to a life in Navy ships and in one of the military base camp. Discipline, obey the leader, knew exactly what to do, are some things they can learn from those two places. The jamboree was held to commemorate the Scout Group anniversary and also the Founder’s Day. Around 600 participants attended the jamboree. They came not only from South Tangerang District or Banten Province, but also from West Java Province and Greater Jakarta Province. They also learn about the Search and Rescue activity, rope and pioneering, and many more. Including, as Scouts they must be the Messengers of Peace too. Helping those in need, become friend to other, and help the environmental clean. This is connected with the theme of the jamboree “Creating Smart Scout”. Scouts must not only clever in their education, but also smart in their behavior to be a good person and good citizen.
